Dealing with Finances
The basis for a successful project is adequate financing. And this means from the beginning to the end of a project. The Commission finances projects in advance, but over and over again has to demand monies back because reports or calculation documents are not accepted because of bad quality or incompleteness. This is especially problematic when jobs are affected and/or the money has already been spent.
In order to avoid this, three fundamental points have to be observed: 1. quality of work 2. punctual submission of all documents 3. use of funding in accordance with existing regulations
A great burden for researchers and finance departments is that all reports, calculation sheets and audit certificates from all project partners have to be submitted to the EU within 45 days after the end of a specific reporting period. Doing so, more than 100 pages of finance regulations have to be abided by and tricky calculations have to be carried out.
